Priscilla is a fifth generation member of her family funeral company Nelson Bros. She has both a Bachelor of Arts and a Diploma of Teaching. In 1987 she established the firms’ Bereavement Resource Centre and has since been actively involved in bereavement education and support.
She has also been certified with the Academy of Professional Funeral Service Practice in the USA since 1989, been President of the Funeral and Bereavement Educators Association (Aust.), President of the National Association for Loss and Grief (Vic.) and served as a council member of the Victorian Division of the Australian Funeral Directors Association for a number of years.
Priscilla has conducted educational programs on subjects related to loss and grief, death and dying to many groups in the metropolitan and country areas throughout Australia, as well as overseas. Priscilla has also lectured in various tertiary institutions and at national and international conferences for specialist organizations. She has had numerous articles published in various publications.
She has certified as a Workplace Trainer (Category 1), and well as Workplace Hygiene – Hospitality Sector. Priscilla has been actively involved in Funeral Service Education, including the initial involvement in subject design, development and teaching for certificates with the Australian College of Funeral Service.
She is currently program director of staff training at Nelson Bros. Funeral Services, Director of the Bereavement Resource Centre and Administrator of MFE (Mortuary & Funeral Educators).
Ian is well recognised with the Australian funeral industry for his wealth of experience and professional conduct in all aspects of funeral service. He started his career in Adelaide in 1976, learning and working his way up through to senior management. He has worked in all types of funeral homes, from large corporates to small family businesses, in both Victoria and South Australia. Ian has also travelled overseas to both USA and Asia, working with international colleagues.
Throughout his career, Ian has had a vital role in Funeral Service and Embalming Education – speaking at both association meetings and training sessions for the industry and individual funeral businesses.
Ian has been the Vice Chair for the British Institute of Embalmers Australasian Division and is currently a Board Member of the Australian Institute of Embalmers.
He is a practicing embalmer as well as funeral director for Nelson Bros Funeral services, as well as a head tutor and assessor for MFE.
